If you’ve been to Stratford lately, you’ll have seen that big changes are afoot. The area is fast becoming London’s newest cultural hotspot, with reputable organisations like Sadler’s Wells moving into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park — and the local foodie scene has a fantastic new addition too.
Park Kitchen & Bar, located within the swish new Sadler’s Wells East building, is open to everyone, serving light lunches, pre-show meals, dinner and evening drinks — in a prime location just a few minutes from Stratford station.
Since opening in January, Park Kitchen & Bar has established itself as the go-to meeting point in the area for catching up with family, friends or colleagues. Its position alongside the famous London Aquatics Centre — and just across from London Stadium — means you can enjoy stunning views of these iconic buildings, and the park itself, as you dine. While fab for pre-show dinner/drinks at Sadler’s Wells itself, it also makes a great jumping off point for exploring the rest of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Expect to find a tempting mix of classic and original dishes and drinks on the ever-changing menu, with a focus on locally-sourced British seasonal produce. Stay traditional with PKB fish & chips (battered market fish served with mushy peas, chunky chips, lemon tartare, curry sauce and gherkins), or go for the chilli, lemongrass & ginger squid, or crispy Korean chicken wings. Throw in attentive service in a warm and welcoming environment, and you may have just found your new favourite dinner spot.
Just swinging by for a drink? You’re very welcome — though with the extensive menu of signature and classic cocktails, mocktails, wines, beers, ciders and spirits, you might struggle to stick to just the one. Drop in on a Tuesday to make the most of the special taco menu, washed down with margaritas (classic, mango, spicy or alcohol-free) for just £5 per serve. Take note: Happy hour is every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 5.30pm-6.30pm, with 2-for-1 on signature cocktails, spritzers and mocktails, a bottle of pinot grigio or pinot noir for £24, or four bottles of Asahi for £20.
Planning ahead for Christmas? From 19 November, Park Kitchen & Bar offers a glittering festive set menu, priced at a bargain £35 per person for a three-course meal. The mouthwatering options including smoked salmon with herb & lemon mascarpone and pickled cucumber, and of course the traditional roast turkey served with goose fat roasties, Chantenay carrots, sautéed Brussels sprouts, turkey sausage roll, pigs in blankets, port & cranberry compote and lashings of turkey gravy. For pre-booked tables, everyone receives a free glass of sparkling wine on arrival, to get the party started in style.
Even better, every purchase made at Park Kitchen & Bar supports dance and Sadler’s Wells Trust projects, helping the next generation of dancers and choreographers to establish themselves.
