While some oenophiles turn up their noses at Beaujolais Nouveau Day — a seasonal saturnalia in which folks enjoy the first wine made from gamay grapes harvested that year in France — it can be lots of fun, especially if you have the day off work. This year’s Beaujolais Nouveau Day falls on Thursday 20 November and as ever, London is lapping it up. Here’s where to get your glug on.
All events are on 20 November, unless otherwise stated. We’ll update this list as more are announced.
Beaujolais nouveau breakfast at Gordon’s, Charing Cross
A full English breakfast, coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice… now what are we forgetting?… oh yeah, lashings of fruity red wine are served from 8am-11am at the legendary Gordon’s Wine Bar. Though they don’t usually take bookings, they’re making an exception in this case. If you haven’t wangled a day off work, Gordon’s will continue to serve beaujo for the rest of the month at a more orthodox hour.
Beaujolais Day at Galvin Bistro & Bar, Spitalfields
Earlybirds can also make an appointment at Galvin Bistro & Bar, where their Beaujolais Day breakfasts kick off from 8.15am, full of croque monsieurs and joie de vivre. There are also lunch and dinner sittings/menus for those who need a latte before they start tucking into the vino.
Davy’s Beaujolais Nouveau Part-Yay, Greenwich
The heated courtyard setting of Vintners Yard hosts Davy’s (they of various London wine bars fame) Beaujolais Nouveau Part-Yay. At this evening bash, you can get your chops around beaujolais nouveau, as well as beaujolais blanc, Moulin-à-Vent and Côte de Brouilly (hopefully these names mean something to someone). There’s also live jazz, French nibbles and a game of ‘guess the beaujolais’. Sounds tres amusant.
Beaujolais Nouveau Dinner at The Buxton, Aldgate
Connie Zagora of Le Kitchen in Lyon takes over the Buxton’s kitchen, to make a four-course set dinner menu inspired by her hometown. It goes without saying that the beaujolais nouveau will be flowing.
Beaujolais Nouveau Day at The Sourcing Table, Peckham
Peckham goes all Parisian for a few hours, with The Sourcing Table’s beaujolais nouveau blowout, featuring French small plates, live music from gypsy swing/hot jazz outfit The Hot Club of Jupiter — and a specially-curated menu of beaujolais. There’s also a free glass of beaujo nouveau with your name on it at the door.
Beaujolais Nouveau Supper at La Fromagerie Marylebone
The folks at La Fromagerie take great pride in racing back from France in a Morgan sports car, armed with a crate or two of Beaujolais Nouveau-Village. They’ve selected this particular label for its wild blackberry and blackcurrant flavours, and you can quaff a glass or two at a special supper at La Fromagerie Marylebone, featuring a three-course menu devised by Head Chef, Alessandro Grano — options including snails on toast, beef bourguignon and tarte tatin.
Beaujolais Nouveau at the Jugged Hare, Barbican
Chef Rafael Liuth invites you to celebrate 2025’s gamay harvest, with a five-course menu of Lyonnais fare including saucisson brioche, pike quenelle and salade Lyonnaise. It’s matched with pours of fruit-forward beaujolais nouveau from Georges Duboeuf and Fleurie Cru.
